Text Box: Freedom was just a weanling when Colleen "rescued" him in 2003, arranging to purchase Freedom in order to save him from the horrible conditions he was living in. He was found in a stall filled with wet manure about three feet deep, and was so frightened when approached, that he tried to escape through a hole in the wall barely six inches square.
Freedom is our mascot because he is a prime example of most of the horses we encounter and rehabilitate. When we first brought him home, he would run to the back of his stall and shake in fear, unaccustomed to any human contact. Colleen’s daughter Cheyenne (only 10 years old at the time) was the first person that Freedom accepted without fear, which is how they came to be featured in our logo.
Since his rescue, Freedom is a part of Colleen’s horse family and is a strong and healthy horse that loves attention! We don’t know if he remembers his horrible first few months, but we do know that he will never have to worry about being abused or neglected ever again!
