Sparkle came from Hendricks County along with seven other horses. She along with the four other mares is pregnant. We aren't sure when Sparkle is due yet, but it is not our policy to foster or adopt out pregnant mares, or mares with foals at their side. So, as you can see, it will be awhile before Sparkle will be put up for adoption. We have been advised by our veterinarian to put her and the other mares on a feed specifically for mares in foal, so it will be costly for us to feed them. Also, we will not be able to put them out on any pasture with fescue in it.

Update 03/26/2009
Sparkle evidently aborted her foal soon after the vet checked her. She really had us fooled though because she gained so much weight! We will be saddling her up soon to see how broke she is - if she is anything like the other horses she came in with, she will be a very good riding horse. We will keep you updated. |
